What Are 35mm Slides?
Lots of people don't understand what
35mm slides are. They are not "negatives."
The are "positives." The most common are
the small, positive pieces of film,
normally about 1.375" by .875", held by
rectangles of cardboard or plastic so that
they end up as 2 inch squares. There are,
of course, many different sizes that have
been created, in the past. They can be
viewed with small hand viewers but are
usually projected onto a screen with a
35mm slide projector.
The size of what you see displayed on
the screen is based on the distance from
the projector. The further away from the
screen, the larger the 35mm Slides will
display. You can get 35mm slides by simply
putting slide film in your camera instead
of print film and then having them
developed as slides instead of prints.
This is rapidly proving to be ancient
history as more and more people move to
the more easy to use digital cameras.
The

would be considered as a "normal" sized
35mm slide.

Here is an example of some old 110 size
converted so that it could be viewed as a
35mm slide:
In order to view the 110 in a 35mm
slide projector, it could be snapped in to
a plastic adapter.

theaters show before the movies are
usually projected 35mm slides.
